Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear.

Tuesday, as my family waits patiently, I will begin the next leg of my journey.
I will have a modified radical mastectomy with immediate TRAM flap reconstruction.
The surgery will be six hours long and I will wake up with a new breast and a new tummy to boot - I knew that I was packing on the pounds for a reason -
I have been spending the past week trying to prepare Michael for my absence and the recovery. It has been weighing heavily on my heart what he must be going through. I was put a little at ease after our conversation today.
It went something like this:
Me - tomorrow I am going to stay at the hospital for a few days so that the doctors can get the rest of the cancer out.
Michael - Mommy are the doctors going to cut the cancer out of your booby?
Me - yes...they will get it out of my booby.
Michael - Are they going to give you a new booby?
Me - yes they are.
Michael - Where do they get a new booby from?
Me - from my tummy.
Michael - How?
Me - I don't really know.
Michael - Are you going to like it?
Me - I sure hope so!
He has obviously given this some thought.
What a handsome dude!

Hi chelsa! You may not remember me. I used to work at express in castleton and would come visit you at your express store in ft. Wayne. I did the visual merchanding. Anyway, I just wanted to send you a quick note and let you know that I am thinking and praying for you. Abby told me about your journey and even though I don't know you too well, I know what an amazing woman you are. I remember loving go to ft. Wayne because you were such a positive person and fun to be around. I know these characteristics have helped you during this process. And by the way, What adorable kids you have! When I worked with you, I think you were just getting married. Wishing you a speedy recovery & sending lots of love your way!
